Jill Morton attended the Music School of Douglas Academy, near Glasgow, where she studied with Jean Hutchison. During her five years as a pupil there, Jill gained a very wide experience in all areas of music making, performing regularly as soloist, chamber musician and accompanist. 1994, she won a scholarship place to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama to study with Professor Joan Havill. With generous support from the Countess of Munster Musical Trust, Sir James Caird’s Travelling Scholarship Trust and the Robertson Trust among others, she continued her studies there, and in 2000 was awarded Guildhall’s prestigious Concert Recital Diploma (Premier Prix). Subsequently, Jill spent a very successful season as Pianist in Residence at the Banff Centre for the Arts in Alberta, Canada.
