The Scottish Flute Trio is the only ensemble of its kind working in the UK. The use of flutes, piccolos, alto flutes and the collaboration with other instrumentalists (e.g. guitar or percussion) makes for a unique sound. The trio has toured extensively in the UK, and since 1996, with support from the Scottish Arts Council, has commissioned and premiered pieces from Edward McGuire, Gordon McPherson, Roger Cann, Thea Musgrave, Django Bates, Kenneth Dempster and Robert Dick.

They have broadcast regularly for BBC Radio, and performed for music clubs and festivals across Scotland. In 1997 they made their debut south of the border at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, and re cent work includes a live broadcast from the Edinburgh International Festival for BBC Radio 3.

The trio’s debut CD, Feasibility Studies, has recently been released on the Metier Label.
